KAMP-NASTA (KNOWLEDGE & AWARENESS MAPPING PLATFORM)

After its launch, KAMP-NASTA has quickly grown to partner with thousands of schools and hundreds of thousands of students around the country. It provides students with personal advisory reports, certificates, and ongoing training programs for teachers to better assist with science teaching. Thanks to KAMP-NASTA, teachers and students are equipped to support India’s desire to create a generation that advances science and technology for the world.

What is KAMP-NASTA?

The Kamp-Nasta program was started in 2019 by CSIR’s National Institute of Science Communication and Policy Research (NIScPR) together with Nysa Communications Pvt. Ltd. The emphasis in this subject is to establish scientific thinking, logical reasoning, and problem-solving abilities among students from Class 3 to Class 12 in the country. The platform follows the new National Education Policy 2020 and helps to assess a student’s thinking skills and knowledge in science. As well as testing, KAMP-NASTA offers students hands-on experience by equipping Centres of Excellence with labs for robotics and AI, workshops, and opportunities for scientific outings. Each year, the program brings together more than 8,000 schools and almost 8 lakh students, making it an important effort to build India’s scientific community.

KAMP-NASTA Core Components

KAMP-NASTA focuses on key components that help develop and support students’ scientific skills and understanding from classes 3 to 12. At the heart of the process is the National Assessment of Scientific Temperament & Aptitude (NASTA), which uses specially designed tests to assess how students use their cognitive abilities, solve problems, use critical thinking, and understand science. The Centre of Excellence (CoE) program gives students hands-on experience with labs in robotics, AI, and visits to research centers, as well as interactive seminars and live lectures. Moreover, KAMP stresses Continuous Professional Development (CPD) courses to train teachers, keeping them aware of current scientific ways of teaching. By combining all these factors, students are able to work on their creativity, innovate, and gain a deeper grasp of science and technology.

Key Components of KAMP-NASTA:

National Assessment of Scientific Temperament & Aptitude (NASTA):

  • Tests how well someone understands concepts, applies science, and thinks critically.
  • Administered through online or offline methods to students from grades three to twelve.

Centre of Excellence (CoE):

  • Your students will learn through labs about robotics, AI, and new technological developments.
  • Helps arrange tours for students to important institutions such as ISRO and CSIR.
  • Run live workshops and seminars to support students’ knowledge acquisition.

Continuous Professional Development (CPD) for Teachers:

  • Educational programs to enhance ways of teaching science.
  • Stays current on the newest news and trends within STEM education.

Participation Process of KAMP-NASTA

Participating in KAMP-NASTA is meant to be simple and open to schools and students in India from classes 3 to 12. Schools have the option to register on the KAMP portal, and the school principal is the person who is typically made the Nodal Officer. Enrolling students can be done either for one student or in bulk by the schools. Every year, students sit for assessments that can be taken on the Internet or on paper to check their understanding of scientific concepts and reasoning skills. At the end of the program, students are given e-certificates and advisory reports, and top students are acknowledged by being awarded within their school, district, state, and nationwide.

KAMP-NASTA Participation Process Overview:

Step Description
School Registration Schools register online via the official KAMP portal
Nodal Officer Appointment of a school coordinator for management
Student Enrollment Individual or bulk upload for classes 3 to 12
Assessment Mode Annual online and offline assessments
Results & Awards E-certificates and recognition for top performers

Awards and Recognition in KAMP-NASTA

KAMP-NASTA makes students feel good about their progress in science by giving them awards that show how they are doing. Every participant gets a digital certificate just to show that they did their best. Outstanding students get certificates and medals during different levels, like at the school, district, state, and national levels, and the Gold, Silver, and Bronze awards honor their skills and interest in science. Education leaders and top scientists from around India are recognized each year at the Pratibhaotsav ceremony, which helps maintain interest and active involvement in science education.

Key Points on Awards and Recognition:

  • E-certificates for all participants
  • Awards and commendations for the best students in the school
  • Awards are given to winners at the district and state levels
  • Top students receive National-level Gold, Silver, and Bronze medals.
  • Annual Pratibhaotsav event recognizing excellence

Future Prospects of KAMP-NASTA

KAMP-NASTA is ready to grow a lot as they plan to add new programs in STEM fields like artificial intelligence, machine learning, and data science to stay up-to-date with today’s technology. The scheme is working to increase its Centres of Excellence at more schools so students can learn about robotics, AI, and emerging fields through practical work. Working more closely with other nations is important to implement top global standards in Indian schools. KAMP-NASTA will also strengthen teachers’ Continuous Professional Development (CPD) to upscale STEM education. Making science education more accessible and inclusive, through encouraging participation in places where it is less present, is one of the goals to help India achieve a leading position in the field of science and technology.

Future Prospects of KAMP-NASTA: Key Initiatives
